The most commonly used root canal filling material is gutta-percha point. Due to the limited flowability of gutta-percha point, auxiliary root canal sealer is needed to fill the gap between gutta-percha point and root canal wall. But trans-1,4-polyisoprene (TPI), the polymer of gutta-percha point is an inert material. It is very difficult for the current commercial sealers to form a good interface combination with gutta-percha point, resulting in interface gaps. Therefore, a novel eucommia ulmoides gum (EUG, natural TPI) root canal sealing material was prepared to improve the filling effect by increasing the interfacial interaction with gutta-percha point.
