Dr. O'Dell received her Master's degree in Forensic Science form George Washington University. She then completed her dental degree at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. Dr. O'Dell practiced as a general dentist for a short time before earning a specialty certificate in Endodontics from the University of Southern California. She established a solo endodontic practice in San Juan Capistrano, CA and continued to teach part-time at both USC and UCLA until taking advantage of an opportunity to enter full time academics. While in practice she attended law school, and completed an implant fellowship at Loma Linda. Dr. O'Dell has served on multiple committees at the local, state and national level, many of which have focused on ethics, such as the AAE Ethics Committee, local and state Peer Review committees. In addition, she has held positions as the the past president of the Southern CA Association of Endodontists, and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. O'Dell held the position of interim Program Director of the Advanced Training in Endodontics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, before accepting a position as Chair, Department of Endodontics at the University of Mississippi. She is currently a board member for the American College of Legal Medicine.
