Dr. Michael Shapiro was born and raised in Calgary, Canada and received his dental training at the University of Manitoba. Following completing an AEGD at the University of Michigan, Michael practiced advanced restorative dentistry, with an emphasis technology, specifically laser dentistry, for nearly 14 years.
Dr. Shapiro returned to the University of Michigan in 2013 to pursue a three year master's degree in endodontics. As part of his master's thesis, he completed an extensive, CONSORT trial on local anesthesia, which culminated in a publication in JOE.
Michael now practices full-time endodontics in south east, Michigan and continues to lecture and teach clinical endodontics at the University of Michigan. His interest in technology has most recently translated into the incorporation of the Gentlewave system into his 4-office specialty practice. Dr. Shapiro continually strives to apply technology, including Gentlewave, to help overcome some of the many challenges we face in endoodntics.
In addition to endodontics, Dr. Shapiro's passions include astronomy and astrophotography, as well as cooking. When not looking through a microscope, he can usually be found on his driveway, looking up at the stars through his telescope.
