Endodontic Microsurgery, due to advancements in dental materials, surgical instruments and equipment has a proven, predictable, successful outcome. Long term success of the case is dependent mainly on the meticulous management of the root-end. The primary aim is to eliminate the etiological factors of the persistent disease process and to provide a seal that will extant. This presentation will address various aspects of the surgical procedure that allows the clinician to achieve the goal of addressing the apex adequately. There are adjustment the clinician can consider in treatment planning or clinical execution to ensure a satisfactory outcome. Topics such as case selection, CBCT evaluation, Patient/microscope positioning, Graft or not to graft, and modifications of clinical steps that will make the procedure easier to execute and have a more predictable outcome will be visited. Prognostic literature will be evaluated which will make the treatment decision process and execution an informed one.

  • Describe the basic steps and variations involved in surgical endodontics based on case selection.
  • Display proper positioning of microscope/patient/doctor to execute the procedure comfortably and effectively.
  • Evaluate prognostic literature critically to analyze the varibales that will ensure success.
