O-9 - Outcomes of Regenerative Endodontics: What Can We Expect?

Treatment for immature permanent teeth with pulp necrosis/apical periodontitis presents has always been a challenging clinical situation. Regenerative has emerged as one of the treatments in dentistry when treating immature permanent teeth. Regenerative endodontics is based on the tissue engineering concept, which uses stem cells, scaffold, and growth factors to regenerate the pulp–dentin complex. In addition to these factors another important factor is disinfection of the canal space. The goal of this treatment modality is to save the natural dentition and have a functional tooth in the oral cavity. The outcomes of this procedure have varied considerably and there is growing evidence that these procedures could fail. However, the reasons for success and failure have not been fully elucidated and should be better understood. This presentation aims to discuss the procedure, new developments, outcomes, and the factors that affect them.
