NS-11 - The Dental Pulp of the Medically Compromised Patient

In today's world, the incidence of medical conditions is increasing as the elderly population increases. Because systemic diseases can affect oral health and subsequent dental treatment, millions of dental patients are expected to have such complications in future. Dental management of these medically impaired patients may be problematic in terms of dental treatment, and emergency care. In patients with some preexisting disease, the disease status must be carefully detected before dental treatment. Dentists should understand the nature of the patient's medical disease, how it affects the patient's physiological response to dental management, and healing status after dental treatment. This presentation will illustrate the effects of patients’ medical condition on dental pulp, alternative treatment options, methods, and future direction of the procedure for medically compromised patients.
