With access to social media at our fingertips and people looking increasingly to the Internet in relation to all facets of life, the online review is a powerful driver of business. The dental field is no exception. Patients looking for a new dentist or a specialist go to Yelp, Google, and other Internet forums in a similar way that they do when figuring out a new restaurant to try. A negative online review thus has potential implications beyond the singular patient who wrote it. Deciding how to handle that negative online review is ripe with potential legal pitfalls and risks. This presentation describes those issues.

In addition, with many dental practices having their own websites, it is important to understand the challenges imposed by copyright laws when preparing the content for those websites. This presentation provides an overview of how to avoid a copyright infringement claim.
