(TC42) Microstructural SEM Study of Intracanal Er,Cr:YSGG Laser Treatment Of Human Dentin Using Various Power Settings

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to methodically investigate the intracanal effects of the Er,Cr:YSGG laser on dentin. Ten human dentin disks underwent laser ablation at various power settings using the Er,Cr:YSGG Waterlase iPlus. SEM observations revealed diverse effects and modifications on the surfaces of dentin walls, including, but not limited to, the reduction in size of dentinal tubules and the presence of surface microcracks. EDS analysis confirmed the unchanged microstructural composition of hydroxyapatite across all settings used. The optimal setting was determined to be 0.5 watts and 20 hertz. Photographs captured relevant observations at various respective settings. The results underscore the necessity for additional research, which should encompass evaluations of heat distribution, microstructural strength, and the penetration depth of antimicrobial capabilities following laser exposure.
