(TC58) Digital Endodontics: Current Trends and Future Directions

Abstract: Current research efforts in the field of digital endodontics aim to improve the effectiveness and overall outcome of endodontic treatments. The incorporation of advanced imaging technologies, specifically cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), enhances precision in detecting intricate anatomical root morphology. Moreover, when these images are utilized in conjunction with computer-aided design (CAD) and three-dimensional (3D) printing, an array of potential strategies for addressing challenging cases, including navigating teeth with pulp canal obliteration (PCO) and removal of glass fiber posts with minimal risks, becomes possible. Employing a 3D-printed static guide and dynamic navigation during endodontic treatment allows for an approach that is both more conservative and less invasive by strategically avoiding unnecessary removal of sound tooth structure. During this table clinic, we will explore contemporary trends, with a focus on the utilization of 3D-printed guides in creating endodontic access. Static 3D-printed guides facilitate the creation of a roadmap based on a precise pre-operative digital plan. This emphasis on precision aligns with the philosophy of modern endodontics, which prioritizes the preservation of the integrity of sound tooth structure during endodontic treatment.
