(PO149) Clinical and Radiographic Success of Non-surgical Endodontic Treatment Using Single-cone Obturation Technique with Calcium Silicate Bio-ceramic Sealers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract: Calcium silicate-based endodontic repair cements, available in ready-to-use or powder/liquid formulas, are expected to exhibit low solubility under neutral pH clinical conditions. However, variations in pH conditions can influence the physicochemical properties of these cements. This study aimed to assess the volumetric and surface stability of calcium silicate-based repair cements in various clinical presentations and pHs, utilizing micro-CT and SEM/EDS/Raman. Human teeth were filled and retro-prepared with a 3 mm deep cavity. The samples were divided into 4 groups: powder/liquid repair cements Biodentine (Septodont, France) and MTA HP (Angelus, Brazil), and ready-to-use cements Bio-C Repair (Angelus, Brazil) and ENDOCEM MTA (Maruchi, Republic of Korea). These were further subdivided based on the contact with the PBS solution of pHs 5.7 and 12. In micro-CT, the cements were analyzed for volumetric change initially and after 7 and 28 days of exposure in the media. In SEM/EDS/Raman, the images obtained were chemically evaluated on their surfaces in the three types of pHs. The results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s test, with a significance level of 5%. Bio-C Repair at pH 5 was notable, showing a significant difference compared to Biodentine at pHs 5 and 12 (p=.011 and p=.007, respectively), ENDOCEM at pH 5 (p=.008), and MTA HP at pH 12 (p=.034). The increase in irregularities was primarily observed at pHs 7 and 12 in the materials: MTA HP and Bio-C Repair; and ENDOCEM at pH 5. This study demonstrated a volumetric reduction mainly in the Bio-C Repair material over periods at different pHs.
